This assay is only available as part of a panel and cannot be ordered individually.

Acinetobacter baumannii is a gram-negative, rod shaped bacterium commonly found in hospitalized patients with infection acquired through irrigating solutions and intravenous solutions. Infections are not exceedingly common but, when they occur, usually involve organ systems that have a high fluid content. These infections may occur as outbreaks rather than isolated cases of nosocomial pneumonia. A. baumannii has always been a multidrug-resistant organism inherently resistant to multiple antibiotics. Acinetobacter causes a range of disease from pneumonia to serious blood or wound infections.
